Brick removal begins on Lake Avenue

One of the main aspects of the Superior Street Reconstruction Project in Duluth was to remove all the old bricks on the road, and replace it with pavement. That same thing is now happening to Lake Avenue.

Contractors have begun pulling up those bricks, working between Superior Street and 2nd Street. After the bricks are gone, the road will be paved with asphalt.

Two-way traffic will be maintained until the project is done, until contractors reach the intersection at 1st Avenue. At that point, the intersection will be closed.

The City of Duluth says this project is expected to take two weeks to complete.
