Friday night football is right around the corner and once again Cloquet will be hitting the road where, so far this season, they’re undefeated.
Last week two early touchdowns and a gritty second half defensive effort pushed the Lumberjacks to a 14-7 win at Hermantown. That’s the most points they have allowed on the road all season and now sit 3-0 away and 3-2 overall.
While teams often perform better in front of a home crowd, Cloquet said this will give them a leg up in the playoffs.
"Our kids just do a good job of getting focused on the road," said assistant coach Jeff Ojanen. "Sometimes at home they’re in front of their families and their friends and their classmates so they get a little nervous, but on the road it’s just us and your teammates and your coaches. I think they do a really good job of just making sure they stay focused."
Junior tackle Lance Konietzo added, "we feel very confident about our abilities to play on the road right now and we have a lot of emotion going into the game. We just really want to keep our win streak going."
Cloquet will close out regular season road play at Rock Ridge on Friday. Kickoff set for 7pm at Eveleth-Gilbert High School.
