CSS’ Boone, UMD’s Radel capture Dan Conway Classic crowns

At the Dan Conway Classic on Thursday, College of St. Scholastica’s (CSS) Calvin Boone caputred the men’s 6K title while University of Minnesota Duluth’s (UMD) Morgan Radel placed first in the women’s 5K.

The cross country meet was held at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior.

Boone, a freshman at CSS, finished first with a time of 19:00.03. UMD’s Lucas Selman finished third overall with a time of 19:23.8. The top finisher for the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) was Derrick Moe coming in at 8th with a time of 20:08.9.

In the women’s event, the Bulldogs took over the top four spots. Radel, a junior at UMD, placed first with a time of 18:23.7. Maj Lis Helmer was CSS’ top finisher coming in at 5th with a time of 18:57.5, while Nicole Koski was UWS’ top finisher at 22nd overall (21:51.9).

As teams, the Bulldogs swept the day, as the UMD men took first with 20 points and the UMD women took first with 16 points.

Following the college meet, the high school Dan Conway Classic took place at Nemadji. The Esko boys (47 points) and Northwestern girls (65 points) teams took first place overall.

Cromwell-Wright’s Noah Foster won the boy’s division with a time of 16:34.1, while Superior’s Tayler McMeekin won the girl’s division with a time of 20:18.9.
