On Friday the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) named Merissa Edwards their Interim Director of Athletics for the 2021-2022 year.
She takes over following the departure of former Director of Athletics Franco Bari.
Edwards has been serving in the CSS Athletics Department since 2010 and took over as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Business four years ago.
"Eleven years of being in the athletic department has really helped me to see all of the little nuisances for every team, every program, looking for opportunities," Edwards said. "There’s a tremendous amount of potential that we have right now."
In 2005 she joined the college’s Admissions Department.
Edwards will oversee the department’s transition into the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this fall.
"Some of the biggest changes are when the men’s and women’s soccer, and the men’s and women’s basketball [teams], compete. There’s a little bit of a shuffle there when it comes to travel and additional games," Edwards explained. "We’re really going to have to work together as a team to get it all figured out and provide the best experience possible."
