Despite leading 2-0 after the first inning, the Duluth Huskies would fall 10-5 in their series opener against the Willmar Stingers at Wade Stadium on Monday.
Mike Boeve went 3-for-4 at bat with one run, while Ambren Voitik tallied the team’s only RBI with one hit. Brett Paulsen added three runs and two hits for the Huskies.
Duluth native Ben Pedersen threw seven strikeouts over five innings pitched.
The loss comes as the Huskies (14-15) enter the final week of the regular season. Duluth now sits three games behind the Waterloo Bucks, who are leading the Great Plains East Division.
The Huskies are back in action Tuesday to close out their series against the Stingers. First pitch is set for 6:35pm in Duluth.
