Duluth Children’s Museum reopens this weekend
It’s a new location for the Duluth Children’s Museum, and after two years of construction the site is ready for visitors. The Children’s Museum is now at 2125 West Superior Street. An Opening Weekend Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Museum staff says the exhibits have been updated for the space and include an Adventure Treehouse play structure, Little Explorers area for toddlers, STEM learning stations, and more.
"We’re thrilled to welcome kids and families back to the museum. It was important for us to find a permanent home in Lincoln Park and create new experiences that will delight long time members and first time visitors alike, and I’m excited to show the community what we’ve done." Cameron Kruger, President/CEO of the Duluth Children’s Museum said in a press release.
Museum officials say this is just the first phase for the building, with experiences available on the first floor for now. Fundraising has begun for phase 2, which will require installing an elevator to open the second floor to visitors and add additional exhibits.
On Saturday, activities and live music will be held in the museum parking lot. Duluth Children’s Museum members are invited to experience the museum early with a Member’s Only day on Friday, August 13th from 10am to 2pm and a ribbon cutting will be held at noon. Admission is $5 per person, or free with a Duluth Children’s Museum membership.
Visitors should check the museum website at www.playduluth.org for current hours and activities.
