Duluth City Council narrows down candidates for vacant seat
The Duluth City Council narrowed down nearly 30 applicants to fill the seat vacated by Derek Medved to just three in a special meeting Thursday night.
The council selected Noah Hobbs, Jenna Yeakel, and Justin Davis to move on to the next round of interviews.
Those interviews will be conducted Monday, February 28th, at which time the city council will vote for one to fill the vacant at-large seat.
During Thursday night’s meeting, councilors ranked their top three choices. Hobbs and Yeakle tied for first place followed by Davis in third place.
All of the eight existing councilors supported at least one of the candidates who became finalists. 15 of the applicants received no votes.
Hobbs is a former city councilor who works for One Roof Community Housing, Yeakle works for the Sierra Club’s North Star Chapter, and Davis works for Blackwoods.
