Duluth Fire reminding boaters, swimmers of water safety
The Duluth Fire Department is reminding boaters to be safe near the beach along Park Point.
All boaters should observe a "no wake" speed of less than 5 mph when they are within 150 feet from shore, swimmers and from other boats. Underwater swimmers and small children in the vicinity may be difficult to see.
Boating regulations require the person operating the vessel to be of legal age to operate, and be in control at all times. DFD is also reminding all vessel owners that the person in control is the person in charge.
DFD is asking everyone to be watchful of others when underway, demonstrate good seamanship and be the person to promote positive messaging when others do so.
