Duluth Police investigating accidental discharge of a firearm at bar close
At approximately 2:02 am on Saturday, Duluth Police Officers were on foot patrol when they noticed multiple people running from Aces on First. Those running stated that multiple people were shot in the bar, located at 113 W 1st St.
The responding officers notified dispatch and requested more squads on scene. Once inside the bar, officers found one male victim with a gunshot wound to his foot.
Officers conducted multiple interviews and watched surveillance video to find out what happened. It is now known that a fight ensued between two white males and two black males. During the fight, a gun fell out of the waistband of one of the white males involved. As a bystander attempted to pick up the gun, it accidentally discharged and hit the male victim in the foot. People in the bar then fled the scene.
Two of the individuals involved in the fight were identified and located at another bar a few blocks away. After being detained and interviewed for their involvement, they were released.
The other two males involved in the fight have not been located. The gun was also unable to be located.
The Duluth Police Department does not believe there is a threat to the public since this was an accidental discharge of a firearm. The public is encouraged to call 911 and reference ICR #22083921 if they have any information regarding this incident.
No further information will be released at this time regarding this ongoing investigation.
