Dump truck driver charged following collision with school bus
A dump truck driver has been charged following a collision with a school bus south of Thunder Bay.
The crash happened on Tuesday, Oct. 19, about 7:47 a.m. on Highway 608 near East Oliver Lake Road in Neebing. Ontario Provincial Police say the driver of the bus received minor injuries, while three students who were aboard the bus were not injured.
A police investigation found the truck collided with the bus while it was making a turn off the highway.
The driver of the truck has been charged with "pass – roadway not clear – overtaking traffic" and is due to appear in court on Dec. 13.
Police said the incident is a reminder that drivers should be ready to stop for school buses when drivers activate their red lights and stop arm.
