Fire engulfs home in rural St. Louis County

Eight fire departments responded to a fire at a rural St. Louis County home on Wednesday.

The fire on Bawden Road in McDavitt Township, about a half-hour drive south of Eveleth, was reported around 2 p.m. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the residence and an outbuilding were fully engulfed in flames when deputies arrived.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire but has been contacted. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was also contacted, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Eight area departments battled the blaze.
