Flooding in north central and northwest Minnesota
Flooding is possible for portions of north central and northwest Minnesota due to excessive rainfall and snowmelt. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning in effect until further notice for the Mississippi River at Aitkin in Aitkin and Crow Wing counties.
Minor flooding is occurring in Aitkin, and is forecast to continue. According to the NWS, flood stage is 13 feet, and the river was at 13.5 feet at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. The Mississippi River is expected to crest at 14.4 feet on Thursday morning.
Officials want to remind motorists to stay clear of flooded roadways. Do not attempt to drive around barricades or through flooded areas. Notify local emergency services or law enforcement if you see an area that is flooded.

A Flood Warning also remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for portions of Beltrami, Clearwater, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau counties. Rivers, creeks and streams prone to flooding are seeing some flooding activity.
The next flood statement will be issued Tuesday evening at 7:45 p.m.
