The Grand Rapids baseball team’s first opponent at state this year, is the team that beat them 20-3 in the final last season, Mahtomedi.
A sour taste that this years team is looking forward to making a distant memory.
"Once the playoffs started they played up to their ability like we expected them to do everyday all season. That is tough to do for high school kids, and now we have to keep it locked in for three more games," said head coach Bill Kinnunen.
"Our bats have been really good all year long, I think we had period of times where our defense has shown how good we can be. There has also been some times where it has been rough but if we all come ready to play, we are playing our best," added junior Myles Gunderson.
The first pitch on the rematch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Chaska Athletic Park.
