The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (LSNERR) and City of Superior Environmental Services Division (ESD) co-hosted the Barker’s Island Green Infrastructure (GI) Walking Tour for regional community leaders Tuesday afternoon.
The tour began with Mayor Paine welcoming attendees before they visited five GI project sites Barker’s Island.
These projects included a beach restoration site and an upcoming boat landing parking lot.
“All these things are to help with water quality and flooding mitigation and also providing greening spaces for wildlife and socio-economic benefits,” explained Megan Högfeldt, the Water Resources Specialist for Superior.
