Coming off their second straight Minnesota State High School hockey tournament appearance the Hermantown boys hockey team returned to the ice this week for their first practices of the 2021-2022 season.
Still in the tryout stage, a good mix of varsity returners and young guns are looking to make the Hawks’ final roster. While their first game is still three weeks away head coach Patrick Andrews has a lot of tough decisions to make, looking to replace seven seniors that graduated last year.
"We want guys that work hard, [have] tremendous skill, a lot of energy, and we just want to see that energy and skill put out full force," Andrews said.
"We have been moving our feet, we have been up and down the ice a lot, its been hard," senior forward Dominic Thomas said. "We have been working hard. These guys all want the same goal and it’s the state championship on March 12th, so every kid is fighting for a spot."
The Hawks will drop the puck on their season December 3rd at Benilde St. Margaret’s.
