Turning plays on the gridiron, the pitch, and the hardwood at Hermantown High School, Michael Lau had options when it came to college. However deep down he knew that football was the way for him, and on Wednesday the senior signed his National Letter of Intent to play for Augsburg University.
"I always liked football as a kid. Growing up in my family and stuff it was always on the TV on Sundays, so just following the love for that game," Lau shared. He grew up, "in the back yard just tossing the ball to myself playing, now we’re here. So good to make that dream a reality."
Last season the quarterback threw 1,155 yards with 14 touchdowns earning a Northeast Red District All Conference honor, and 7AAAA All-Section Team selection. As a junior in the fall of 2020 he threw for 420 yards and five touchdowns, while tacking on two rushing touchdowns.
Along with football, soccer, and basketball, Lau also played baseball in Hermantown.
