Lake Country, Minnesota Power still working to restore services

After the latest round of severe weather in the Northland, power crews continue their work to get the lights back on for customers. Both Minnesota Power and Lake Country Power provided outage updates Wednesday.
Minnesota Power says crews have made significant progress. At the heigh of the storm, 11,000 customers were in the dark. As of Wednesday morning, that number was down to 720. They expect services will be fully-restored to the majority of the region by midnight. The greatest number of outages are in the Nisswa and Deerwood areas, where 38 downed lines and seven broken poles needed repair.
Minnesota Power says they are grateful for customers’ patience, and say crews will continue working until services are restored.
Lake Country power says they have restored services to more than 13,500 cooperative members, with 3,100 members still without power at 187 outage points. They expect full restoration by Friday.
The majority of those still affected reside in St. Louis County, where 2,200 members remain without service, including another 600 members in Itasca County. Also impacted are parts of Aitkin, Carlton, Cass, Lake and Pine counties.
Lake Country Power says line crews will be sent home for rest at 10:00pm Wednesday night, after working 16 hours streight. Stand-by crews will pick up the workload, continuing to work through the night until the day shift returns. The power cooperative has been working 16-hour shifts since the power first went out Monday night.
