Larson’s record tying performance propels UMD past Upper Iowa to open season

On Thursday, University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) quarterback John Larson threw a school record-tying six touchdowns propelling the Bulldogs to a 41-14 season opening victory over the Upper Iowa University.
Additionally, wide receiver Armani Carmickle set a new school record for average yards per catch with 41.8 yards.
Larson notched 447 passing yards, just 10 yards short of the single game record of 457 yards.
UMD’s Kurtis Weigand and Carmickle secured two touchdowns each, while Johnny McCormick and Zach Ojile each caught one. For the full recap, click here.
The Bulldogs (1-0) return home next weekend hosting Minnesota State University-Mankato in their home opener. Kick-off at Malosky Stadium is scheduled for 6:05 PM on September 11.
