Man identified in deadly single-vehicle crash in Makinen

One man has died in a single vehicle crash Tuesday in Makinen, about 15 miles south of Biwabik. Authorities have identified him as Wayne A. Robbins, 60 of Chisholm and say he died at the scene from his injuries.

A passerby called 9-1-1 in the late afternoon and reported a semi tractor-trailer that had rolled at the intersection of Townline Road and Long Lake Road.

According to the investigation, Robbins was heading west on Townline Road when he went off the road into a ditch, overturning his semi truck.

Authorities say Robbins was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and was partically ejected from the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office with assistance by the MN State Patrol and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit and the Midwest Medical Examiners Office.
