Many test for COVID-19 before Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is said to be returning with bigger gatherings this year. And many people are taking extra precautions to keep their families safe from COVID-19.

A crowd at the DECC formed Wednesday morning to get a COVID rapid tests.

College students were gearing up to go back home taking tests. Adults heading to their older parent’s places for thanksgiving were there taking tests to double check.

Jimmy Wilcziek, who tested negative for COVID-19, was there to make sure he was COVID free in time for his Thanksgiving festivities. He says, “So I’m going to be heading down to the cities to see my grandparents and I had to get tested because they are both vulnerable to COVID and have heart issues."

And for many families seeing each other this year has become even more important. Wilcziek says, “It’s been a couple hard weeks for my family, so I was really hoping to see them and it looks like I’m going to be able to see them."

Since some workplaces and schools have been seeing exposures double checking before traveling is something many people have been keeping in mind. Jimmy’s place of work experienced an exposure not too long ago but had all his employees test.

He says, "Just to make sure everything is safe I made sure that all the employees are getting testes so we can all get back all safe and have a nice weekend hopefully."

And while many people tested negative there were some families and roommates who tested positive, now they are scrambling to rearrange their thanksgiving plans.
