Mark Liebaert running for Douglas County Sheriff

Mark Liebaert announced his candidacy for Douglas County Sheriff on Wednesday.

Liebaert, who currently serves as Douglas County Board Chair said he believes he would bring needed experience to the role.

“I’ve been the chairman over three,” explained Lebaert. “I had two floods, I had the fire and then [I had] the pandemic where basically the county board chair and the administrator had become the entire county board. We made all the decisions for over a year. I have six years law enforcement experience. I’ve been chair of the committee of the county board for six years plus.”

Liabaert will be running against Detective Matt Izzard and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brian Witt. Sheriff Tom Dalbec is not seeking reelection this year.
