The Hillside Makers Market held its grand opening Friday in Duluth.
The market was founded by two local businesses, Barbara Bengtson (Perception Coaching, LLC) and Cara Overland (Lake Superior Scandinavian),to provide a place for local makers and artisans to showcase and sell their goods.
The artisans who sell at the market also keep 100% percent of their profits
"We really want this to be a home for artists and makers to feel like they belong,” said Overland, “I am and artist and I am a maker and I needed this, so I created it."
Jeanne Lassard, a local jeweler, said she appreciates that the market is run by artists because they understand other artist’s needs.
The market will continue Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then be held the last weekend of every month going forward.
For artisans interested in joining the market, Overland says just to reach out.
