Last Wednesday the Proctor boys soccer team downed Duluth Marshal in shutout fashion winning 3-0 to claim the Section 7A title and advance to the state tournament.
Head coach Anthony Wood said the addition of a third class this season is making for a more diverse and exciting tournament.
"I think the [Minnesota] State High School League and their coaches association were pushing for three classes. Having Class A, AA, AAA I mean yesterday at the banquet you could hear all these teams that had never been to the state tournament before. It’s our first time in 11 years so I just think it’s awesome, creating more opportunities," Wood said.
Along with battling new opponents Wood added they’re also preparing to battle the elements, expecting a rainy quarterfinal Thursday. Proctor kicks off state facing South West Christian in Edina with kickoff set for 5:30pm.
