Bowling, prizes, raffles, and lots of fun at Village Lanes on Sunday at the annual No Time to Spare fundraiser for CASDA.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. CASDA has been hosting a few events to lower the stigma when it comes to talking about domestic violence, but in a more relaxed and fun atmosphere.
"Our mission is to help folks in the community that are dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse," shared Lisa Jordan, the Domestic Abuse Program Coordinator at CASDA. "Domestic violence is not a personal issue, it’s a community issue. And we all know someone — which is actually the national hashtag this year, #EveryoneKnowsSomeone."
On top of the Bowl-a-Thon, people could enter to win a door prize or meat raffle. And prizes went to the teams with the highest bowling score, the most creative costumes, and a prize for the team who raised the most money.
"If someone has confided or you have an inkling that something is going on, just ask. People tend to judge, but unless you’re in that situation, you really don’t understand it," shared Jordan. "So be there for the people that are struggling with that."
If you or someone you know feels unsafe in their environment, the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse (CASDA) is available for help 24/7.
