Prep football: Northwestern advances in WIAA playoffs, Hayward sees season end

Northwestern football dominated Mauston winning 47-14 Friday night to advance to Level 2 in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 4 playoffs.
Austin Schlies scored four times to surpass 1,000 yards on the season helping the top-seeded Tigers improve to 10-0 on the season.
Northwestern will host fourth seeded West Salem in the second round Friday Oct. 29 at 7pm.
In Division 3, Hayward suffered a season ending 43-8 loss to top-seeded Mosinee. The Hurricanes finish their season 3-7.
Elsewhere in Wisconsin, Hurley improved to 12-0 notching a 60-0 win over Loyal. Rice Lake downed Medford 48-14. Spooner fell to Aquinas 30-6, and in 8-man Northwood/Solon Springs fell to Luck 42-20.
