Football season is right around the corner, and Proctor High School has a new tool for training their players called the tackle bar.
Players use it on their belts similar to how they would in flag football. When a player pulls the bar off, that simulates a tackle.
The goal of it is to still have the tackle football feel while also cutting down on the physical contact between players.
"There’s been a lot of enthusiasm with the kids to get together and do this. Flag football is fun, but reaching and grabbing the hip isn’t really like playing football, and this allows us to have some of the physicality of the game without as much of potential damage from the intensity of actual tackle football," said Proctor High School Head Football Coach Erik Edmunds.
The Proctor REA3D Organization gave Proctor Football the grant for the tackle bar.
