Two Saturdays ago, 7th graders Corbin Weum and Brandon Gabriel were getting down in the dirt and doing some digging at Frank Hibbing Park.
Their teacher, Dana Lindstrom, is part of the group Sprucing Up Hibbing, which has been helping make the community a more beautiful place.
"Basically, anything in Hibbing that tries to make things better, I try and get involved, and try to get the kids involved, too," she added.
Debbie Nehring Barker started this effort this summer, and organized a new garden off 1st Avenue.
Her next project was Frank Hibbing Park. So Lindstrom invited her students. And on a rainy, cool day, Brandon and Corbin spent time planting and moving things.
Brandon told us, "Get up, stop eating your chips, and go garden! It’s not that hard, it’s so easy to do," he said.
Corbin added, "It was pretty fun, and I like planting stuff."
And their next project is the dog park. Keep going, guys!
