The Northland is filled with original talent and companies that put on creative work. Rubber Chicken Theater is one of those places gearing up for an exciting performance this weekend.
For the first time in seven years, the organization is presenting eight world-premiere plays, all created in just 24 hours.
Brian Matuszak, Executive Producer of Rubber Chicken Theater, joined Good Morning Northland to share more about the return of the Chicken Hat Plays.
"Friday night we meet with the writers. They draw their prompts: a ‘who’ a ‘what’ and a ‘where,’" said Matuszak. "Then they just go off, all night long, they write a ten minute, original script that incorporates those prompts. On Saturday at 8 a.m. — the directors and actors all meet, and the writers show up very tired with their scripts, the directors randomly draw a script, they randomly draw their cast, then at 7:30 Saturday night, we produce all eight plays."
The Chicken Hat plays are taking place at the Underground Saturday, June 11th. You can reserve tickets by visiting their website.
Seating is general admission and tickets are $20 per person. Audience members are asked to wear masks.
