Severe storms and heavy rain possible Friday into Saturday
An active stretch of weather is expected Friday evening into Saturday morning. There is potential for damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible through Friday afternoon. The widespread severe threat will begin in North Dakota and edge toward Koochiching and Itasca Counties in the evening. Storms will march east through the evening and overnight with the potential for large hail and damaging winds gradually dwindling.
By early Saturday morning, heavy rain will be the primary concern. Flash flooding is a concern across Northeast Minnesota and into Douglas and Bayfield Counties. Widespread rain of 1-2" is possible with higher amounts locally. A cold front will gradually push showers and thunderstorms to the east with drier conditions settling in from the west through Saturday afternoon and evening. A few isolated showers and storms lingering behind the front.
