Sheriff’s office investigates fire at Iron Range church

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating a fire at an Iron Range church.

The fire happened at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mountain Iron on Friday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies had been sent to the church on a burglary report. When they arrived, they noticed that there had been a fire in the church that was already out.

The sheriff’s office says the fire appeared to be of a suspicious nature.

The Minnesota Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
