Solon Springs man seriously injured in motorcycle accident

A Solon Springs man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon in Hermantown, according to a Tuesday afternoon news release from the Hermantown Police Department.

The release says preliminary investigation reveals the 56-year-old man was driving his 2000 Harley Davidson southbound on Lavaque Road when it crashed into a 2011 Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound on Arrowhead Road.

The Solon Springs man was ejected from the motorcycle, and transported to the hospital via Mayo Ambulance with serious, life-threatening injuries. His condition is currently unknown.

Authorities say he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

An 80-year-old Hermantown man, who was driving the Impala, and his passenger did not sustain any serious injuries.

The Hermantown Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Hermantown Volunteer Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash is under investigation.
