Spooner Middle School building closed until at least Nov. 29

November 29 is now the earliest possible date that students will return to Spooner Middle School.

The week of Nov. 22 to 26 is a scheduled break for Thanksgiving in the district. Officials announced Wednesday, Nov. 17, that middle school students will continue remote learning for the rest of the week as an investigation continues into an "epoxy-like odor" continues.

"Out of an abundance of caution, additional advanced environmental sampling and analysis will take place," the district said.

The district had said Monday that the odor was still present in three areas of the school as of that day.

The district said in its Wednesday update that no new cases have been reported. 64 staff and students sought medical attention after being evacuated from the school on Nov. 10, and some required hospital treatment.

Classes resumed Monday in a remote learning format. In-person classes continue at other schools in the district.
