Suspect arrested in Thunder Bay hit-and-run of home

Police have arrested a man suspected of driving a truck into a home earlier this month.

The incident happened on Oct. 8. Police say a pickup truck travelling more than 128 km/hour (79 mph) in a 50 km/hour (31 mph) zone crashed into a power pole and a home on Broadway Avenue. The driver fled the area on foot.

Police say they found containers of alcohol in one of the truck’s cup holders and elsewhere in the cab.

After an investigation, police arrested a 39-year-old Thunder Bay man on Oct. 26 and charged him with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop after an accident. The suspet appeared in bail court on Oct. 26 and a future court date was set.

The extent of the damage to the home was not specified in a news release.
