Students from across the region participated in a Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) sanctioned District Solo & Ensemble Music Festival on Tuesday hosted by the Superior High School.

Due to the pandemic, last year’s event was held virtually, but this year the talented musicians came together for one incredible music festival. The middle, junior high and high school students performed vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios and small ensembles before a judge.

Organizers say this is an experience that you have to see – and hear to believe.

"This is one of those events where you can tell the students about it, but they really don’t understand how important it is and how much fun it is until they’re here," Superior High School Band Director, Jennifer Robbins said. "You can her the people practicing in the background, they get to mix with some students from different schools. And just seeing eachother do all the things they normally do in the classroom, they get to see the work on this stage. It’s so important and they don’t get to realize it until this moment."

The festival brought together students from a number of area schools, including Northwestern High School, Superior High School and Superior Middle School. Amy Eichers, Orchestra director from Superior High School served as the festival manager.
