Tall Ships returning, this time to Two Harbors
The tall ships will set sail for the Northland once again in 2022.
The Festival of Sail is scheduled for Aug. 4-7 in Two Harbors.
Organizers say work on Duluth’s seawalls will prevent the festival from being held in the Twin Ports. Festival of Sail Producer Craig Samborski said postponing was not an option.
"The search for a new venue didn’t take us far," Samborski said in a press release. "We approached Two Harbros’ Mayor Chris Swanson and he along with the community of Two Harbors graciously offered to host the festival on their beautiful waterfront."
He said a record 12 ships will be at the 2022 Festival of Sail. The lineup includes:
- US Brig Niagara
- Pride of Baltimore II
- Insland Seas
- Schooner Utopia
- St. Lawrence II (Kingston, Ontario)
- Nao Trinidad (Seville, Spain)
- Gerhard Folgero
- Sundew
- Abbey Road
- Schooner Charley
- Edna G
- Schooner Perception, which won the 2021 Chicago to Mackinaw Race
There will be onboard tours and day sails offered.
The festival is also adding new events like craft beer and whiskey tastings on board the ships, early entry admission tickets, fast passes to skip the lines, reserved parking, and a family ticket bundle.
There will also be a platinum pass that will include a VIP tent with a catered lunch and complimentary beer, wine, and pop; an exclusive viewing location; and Fast Pass access.
