Thursday morning at the DECC, volunteers were warming up before bracing the winter weather for Thanksgiving meal distribution. Meals were always given out satellite location at coppertop church, volunteer services in Carlton County and some locations of ruby’s panty.
Some members were delivering meals in the Northland to those that are homebound. Others were handling out meals to families that came to the DECC to get a Thanksgiving meal.
Every time the community comes together, there’s always an endless supply of people willing to lend a hand. This year’s Thanksgiving planning started in April, preparing for everything that would be need for today’s meals and more.
Having a good group of individuals willing to help in any capacity is beyond amazing! "We have a great committee, a great volunteer crew, great donors, and the community really comes together. This year, had its fair shares of challenges, with logistics and supply chain issues and everything things else that organizations are having to go through. It was great to have our volunteer leaders, coming together”, said event organizer Monica Hendrickson.
The DECC remained open till 2pm making sure that everyone that signed up for a thanksgiving meal got one delivered to them.
