On the courts Monday the Timberwolves and Lynx Academy took over the Burns Wellness Commons at the College of Saint Scholastica (CSS) for their Youth Hoops Camp.
Coaches focused on teaching the young athletes both important basketball skills, along with lessons beyond the gym doors.
“Any time you get to teach the game of basketball to kids and teach life lessons that’s what it’s more about. It is more about life lessons than the basketball pieces, and anytime you can do that and inspire kids that’s what it’s all about,” said Basketball Academy Manager DJ Peterson.
“That is how it all got started I loved camp as a kid going to my local high school camps. Going to the youth and Timberwolves camps, so I remember coming to these camps as a kid. Anytime you get to come to a camp like this it’s special,” added Peterson.
Put on by Starks Academy, the camp welcomes kids from grades 3-8.
The fun for campers continues through this Wednesday.
