The Duluth Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program received a large donation from Mid-State Truck Service’s "Truckers for Tots" effort on Friday.
Dozens of shopping bags filled with toys were unloaded Friday morning at the Salvation Army, which is the local distributor for the Toys for Tots program. The toys were purchased Thursday evening at the Fleet Farm in Hermantown.
"While the pandemic and the current economic climate have taken their toll on our business, we still want to do as much as we can to help the community," Mike Cooper, Operations Manager at Mid-State Truck Service, was quoted as saying in a news release.
"We cannot express how much we appreciate the generosity of local businesses like Mid-State Truck Service. Without them, we couldn’t make the holidays bright for so many families in the Duluth area," said Cyndi Frick, Director of Development for the Duluth Salvation Army, in a news release.
Mid-State Truck Service has eight locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin and has been organizing the "Truckers for Tots" fundraiser for 13 years. This year, the effort is donating $50,000 worth of toys to locations in Duluth, Stevens Point, Marshfield, Wausau, and Chippewa Falls.
