Twins activate Miguel Sano from injured list after near three month absence
Miguel Sano has been activated by the Twins from his rehab assignment with OF Gilberto Celestino optioned to AAA-St. Paul, according to Twin Cities affiliate KSTP.
To make room for Sano on the 40-man roster, LHP Danny Coulombe has been moved to the 60-day injured list. Sano has been out since late April with a knee injury.
During Sano’s rehab assignment, he hit .333/.422/.795 with three doubles, five home runs, 11 RBIs and six walks between the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Twins (five games) and Triple-A St. Paul (seven). On Saturday, Sano went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs for the Saints.
Sano’s three-year, $30 million contract is up in November, with the Twins likely to decline their $14M option for 2023.
