UMD rises to No. 13 in AFCA poll following upset over MSU-Mankato

On Saturday, the then-No. 20 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team upset No. 3 Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) 30-10 to rise to 13th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) national rankings.

The Bulldogs jumped seven spots in the poll after securing their first win over the Mavericks since 2011.

With the loss MSU drops to number 19 in the poll, making UMD the highest ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in the Division II top-25.

UMD (2-0) will fight to protect their perfect record visiting Winona State University Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
