UMD softball swings to big NSIC home opener sweep over U-Mary

Two 10 run performances lifted the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team to a home opening doubleheader sweep over the University of Mary on Friday.
The Bulldogs picked up the 10-1 and 10-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) wins at Malosky Stadium for their first home wins under new head coach Lynn Anderson.
On the day UMD was led by Kiana Bender with four RBI and a home run, and Elle Potts tallying three RBI, a home run, and a triple.
Next UMD, now 2-2 in NSIC play and 17-8 overall, is set to host Minot State University for another NSIC doubleheader on Saturday. First pitches are set for 11am and 1pm at Malosky Stadium.
