Hockey coaches from across the country have converged on Duluth for the USA Hockey Level 5 Coaches Symposium.
On Friday afternoon University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) assistant coach Laura Bellamy could be heard speaking about women’s programs during the Division I women’s coaches panel.
"There’s just so many more resources now, and you see it at our level," Bellamy said to large group at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC). "It’s speed, it’s strength, it’s skill, it’s the way these kids shoot the puck. The goaltending I think has gotten a lot better in the last decade, so you see it really at every part of the game."
Held once every two years, the symposium features speakers from Iowa Wild head coach Tim Army, to hockey icons like Duluth’s Mike Sertich, and Pittsburgh Penguins skills and development coach Ty Hennes.
Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill will wrap up the four day event Sunday at noon. For the full schedule of speakers and events, click here.
