The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team closed out their home opener with a split series against the University of Minnesota.
The Bulldogs rallied from a game one loss to take game two 5-4 in overtime thanks to a game-winning goal by Maggie Flaherty
Fittingly the play earned the senior Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Defenseman of the Week honors. She tallied a league-best seven blocks and is tied for leading conference defenseman in scoring with two goals so far this season.
Flaherty and the Bulldogs will host the No. 1 University of Wisconsin Friday and Sunday at AMSOIL Arena.
