On Friday University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Amber Heidenreich and the College of St. Scholastica’s (CSS) Hannah Johnson were named nominees for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
The award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
Heidenreich just concluded her career as a forward on the UWS women’s hockey team.
The Hayward native led the team with 10 points during a shortened 2020-2021 season.
Saints golf standout Johnson, a native of Two Harbors, helped lead CSS to their fifth straight conference title and a trip to nationals this spring.
They’re two of 535 total nominees. For the full list, click here.
The winner will be announced this fall.
