The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s soccer team secured their fifth straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) title to earn their fourth NCAA tournament berth in five years.
In the men’s soccer Division III selection show Monday afternoon they learned they’ll open round one against Washington University in St. Louis in the North Park Regional Saturday.
"Our senior guys, especially the ones that came back who had that year of eligibility and sacrificing things outside of soccer to make sure they could come back and have this chance, it’s really cool to see them get rewarded for that," head coach Joe Mooney said. "Hopefully we can keep it going for a little while longer."
Senior defenseman Scott Wilson added, "to go and do this again, I know the players and the coaching staff are all excited. Especially since we weren’t given the opportunity last year, I think it’s a really good opportunity for the guys to go and show on a nationwide level how good we are and what our potential really is."
The Yellowjackets enter the national tournament with a 16-6 overall record. Saturday’s first round kicks off at 11am in Chicago.
