The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) community is mourning the loss of track and field throwing coach Sam Maday.
The Yellowjacket assistant coach unexpectedly passed away on Saturday at the age of 35.
An Ashland, Wis. native he found track & field success at Ashland High School, then set a number of program records competing at UWS.
There has been an outpouring of support on social media for Maday who spent over ten years working as a UWS administrative counselor and coach. During that time he sent four throwers to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Services led by Sonny Smart will begin at 11am Thursday, Dec. 23 at the Bad River Community Center.
