Walz: Thankful for the bounty in Minnesota
Gov. Tim Walz continued tradition by highlighting the state’s turkey growers on the day before Thanksgiving.
The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association presented this year’s Thanksgiving turkey, "Harold," to the governor at the state capitol. The event highlights the importance of the agricultural industry and the need to fight food insecurity.
"After a year and a half of being very challenging, pausing in these moments of gratefulness, pausing in these moments of thankfulness, pausing to thank that bounty we have in Minnesota, and all of the things we share together. I am truly grateful," Walz said.
"Sometimes it can be hard to find the good stuff. But I know that tomorrow I will be gathered around a table with my daughter, with our family, and we will have a lot to be grateful for," said Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan.
Minnesota is the nation’s top turkey producer, raising 40 million turkeys in 2019, according to the National Turkey Foundation.
