The Minnesota Wild selected Jack Peart, a defenseman out of Grand Rapids, for their 54th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NHL draft Saturday.

Peart was named Minnesota’s 2021 Mr. Hockey, and also won the Reed Larson award for the state’s best senior defenseman. He went on to join the Fargo Force in the USHL, helping them to a Western Conference playoff title.

As a Thunderhawk last season, he helped lead the team to a 15-2-1 overall record, including an appearance in the Section 7AA championship game.

According to NHL Central Scouting, the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) commit is ranked 27th among North America skaters eligible for the draft.

Peart had become the 11th Thunderhawk to earn a selection in the NHL draft.
