2024 General Elections

To vote you must be:

In Minnesota

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old on Election Day (16 & 17 year olds can pre-register)
  • A resident of Minnesota for 20 days
  • Not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction
  • Not under a court order that revokes your right to vote

In Wisconsin

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a resident of Wisconsin and have resided at the registration address for at least 28 days prior to the election
  • Be 18 years old on or before Election Day
  • Not have been convicted of treason, felony or bribery, or if you have, your civil rights have been restored after completion of your sentence or a pardon
  • Not have been found by a court to be incapable of understanding the objective of the electoral process
  • Not make or benefit from a bet or wage depending on the result of an election
  • Not have voted at any other location, if registering on Election Day

In Michigan

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be at least 16 years old (18 when you vote)
  • Be a resident of Michigan when you register
  • Be a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days when you vote
  • Not currently be serving a sentence in jail or prison

In Minnesota, you need to bring one proof of residence to the polling place. This includes a valid Minnesota driver’s license, learner’s permit or ID; or receipt for any of these. You can use a Tribal ID with name, address, photo and signature. You can also bring a photo ID and a document with current name and address: Expired ID or driver’s license, U.S. Passport, U.S. Military or Veteran ID, Minnesota school ID – AND – a bill, account or start of service statement dated within 30 days of the election for phone, TV, internet, utilities, banking card or rent or mortgage. Your rental lease agreement or current student fee statement also qualifies.

You can also have a registered voter from your precinct come with you to sign an oath confirming your address.
