Polls now open in 2024 Presidential election
The polls are now open all across the states for the presidential election. Locations all across the states open and welcoming people to come in and place their ballots. Voting goes from 7am to 8pm.
On Election Day, you need to go to your assigned polling place. Those are different from early voting locations, which your city may have hosted at municipal buildings, libraries or community spaces. These locations can be found by typing in your address in official websites for the state you are currently in. The Minnesota Secretary of State – Elections & Voting for those in Minnesota, The Michigan Voter Information Center, and the Find My Polling Place website for people in Wisconsin.
At the polling location for your address, you can find your ballot to vote. If you have not registered to vote, you can register to vote for the first time or re-register if you’ve moved addresses or legally changed your name since the last election on location. To register to vote, you must provide proof of residence shows your up-to-date address. A driver’s license or ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles counts as proof as residence, if it shows your current address. Below are some examples of proof of residencies.
- A bank or credit card statement
- A paycheck or paystub
- A recent utility bill
- A real estate tax bill or receipt
- A residential lease, if it’s valid on the date of registration.
- An intake document from a nursing home or assisted living facility
- A university or college ID card with your photo. This can only be used if you have a fee receipt within the last nine months or if your college provides a housing list to the local clerk.
All polls in the Upper Midwest close by 8pm tonight, November 5th. So, make sure to get your votes in before then.
